i just checked around.....the books pulled this one in a hurry...

my first instincts seemed to be right on for a change....when i saw hopkins at -177,i hit it and hit it very hard for me(i`m not a huge bettor).....

i feel very fortunate that oscar got the decision....now i pray that he doesn`t back out of the hopkins fight....

dlh looked like a pudgy middle aged woman out there....his stamina faded late as a welter......why wouldn`t it fade even worse carrying an extra 13 pounds?.....he just isn`t a middleweight...sturm looked good....but he`s not nearly as good as dlh made him look...don`t get me wrong...he`s a legit middleweight contender....but,he`s not bernard hopkins...

he`s got NO CHANCE vs a buff,6`1" hopkins who is still slick as wd-40 and a much bigger man....

i pray oscar doesn`t come to his senses....please oscar....stay greedy.....

Sphincter, Intertops still has a line of -200 for Hopkins. How do you see this line moving? Is -200 worth laying for a future hedge?

whor....i don`t know about a hedge....but i can`t imagine savvy boxing oddsmakers leaving it at -200 after what we just saw....

i `ve seen people on other sites giving hopkins grief for the fight tonight....as though allen was a bum...well,allen is a very strong, tough lefty....he was seeing hopkins for the 3rd time....and still was basically shut out....

dlh was pudgy.....and he`s not a strong middleweight....at some point, you just can`t keep pushing the envelope and stepping up in weight....

dlh is now dragging to much weight around for his frame....hopkins,on the other hand, looks like a lean animal at 160....

everybody keeps waiting for hopkins to get old....but,he keeps winning easily......very ittle wear and tear....while dlh keeps fighting one tough fight after another....

i see dlh hitting the wall....not bernard....

he`s not the same guy at middleweight..dlh was a great lightweight,jr welter....even welter.....but,he`ll be fighting possibly the best pfp guy in the world who has been very comfortable in his own skin at 160....and has been that way for way over a decade...

and just seems to get better and better....

he`ll be fighting an orthodox guy in dlh..not some awkward lefty....dlh couldn`t move his head tonight...he ate jab after jab...and he faded late yet again.....

.hopkins will have height, reach, power, strength and stamina advantages....dlh won`t overpower hopkins.....and he won`t outslick him....not carrying all that excess baggage...it`s not good weight....

imo,if dlh takes this fight in september or october,he`s crazy....

Spinch I think that you are blind as to what happened last night and like alot of other people you put Hopkins on a pedestal that he just doesnt belong on. Heres what happened last night: Hopkins fought a stiff and Oscar fought a great boxer. Sturm isnt a Bernard Hopkins? I say he has a DAMN good chance of beating Hopkins. As a matter of fact, I think Oscar and Sturm both would beat Hopkins.

Oscar looked really good coming out of the gate and fought an agressive fight. His problem was he fought a guy that has some serious skill, heart, and a guy who is really hungry. Dont get me wrong, Oscar did some bad things last night. His defense and movement were pretty damn bad. After Oscar would land his body shots he would stay right in there and get hit back instead of stickin and movin. But I am stunned by how good this Sturm guy looked last night.

So youre telling me that Allen is a damn good quality fighter and Hopkins just shined against a very good opponent? Give me a friggin break. Hopkins fought another B level fighter just like he's been doing since he fought Jones over 10 years ago, with the exception of Trinidad. Every one of his 17 defenses or whatever it is has been against B level fighters except for Trinidad who also was fighting outside of his optimal weight range. He fought a great fight against Trinidad, no question. But I thought Trinidad was a very beatable guy who shouldnt have been fighting at 160.

I cant believe that youre falling for this BS Spinch. He has been dominating all of his fights because he fights stiffs. Its that god damn simple. As a matter of fact I think his boxing skills are pretty shitty. If he was a great boxer we wouldnt be seeing all of this inactivty during his fights. I know you think he's just playing things smart but I seriously think his boxing skills are far from great.

I think Oscar is a far better boxer than Hopkins but youre right, he shouldnt be fighting at 160. But spare me with the Hopkins praising. Hopkins is definitely beatable. If he fights anybody with a fuking pulse you'll find that out.

almly....but what did you really think?...stop hedging your opinions........lol......

i don`t have to coax an honest opinion out of you,bud......

we`ll seriously disagree on this one....what i saw was a decent, prototypical german boxer....a kid that`s physically strong but with little power....basically a one dimensional, one handed fighter....

a great jab....a strong kid.....but,he ain`t hopkins...hopkins would destroy this kid...

markus beyer just lost last night....another german middle..one with a better rep than sturm.....to some "guinea" named sanavia(i`m part "guinea" myself,so i don`t want any fellow guinea`s or dego`s to be offended)......this sanavia has one loss....he was stopped by the frenchman morrade hakkar.....they fought twice....sanavia won the second by a majority decision....

do you remember hakkar fighting hopkins about a year and a half ago?.....it was ridiculous...hopkins chased the guy around the ring...literally toyed with him before mercifully stopping him in the 8th....

i think you are wrong about hopkins...he`s cuter than christy brinkley in her prime....

dlh,on the other hand, looks old and sloppy as a middleweight...and he has terrible stamina...he`s forgotten how to slip punches...or the weight just makes him lazy.....

i hope you saw him and hopkins standing together in the ring after the fight...it looked like a man and a boy....hopkins is a pretty big guy at 160...

i have to disagree with you,bud.....with all due respect....you`re one of my favorite internet dudes...

so,we can agree to disagree...

we`re not here to massage one another`s egos...just to hash out info that helps us win some jack.....

you still da` man....

The only other chatboard that I used to post on was boxingtalk and most of my energy for lashing out at Hopkins was generated there.
Ever since the Trinidad fight it seems like everybody thinks Hopkins is the best fighter in the world now. Oh he does this and he does that - he just dominates guys. I say the only reason he has been dominating is because he fights nobodys. I think he is the most overrated fighter in the game and it will be proven once he fights a great fighter.

Each time a fighter has a huge win over another great fighter people go crazy over the guy and say he's the best P4P fighter in the world. He's the new flavor of the month. Then the guy loses to another really good fighter and people look for the next flavor of the month. The only difference is that Hopkins hasnt lost since his big win over Trinidad. The only reason that is in my opinion is because he hasnt fought anybody since then. He's just like Vernon Forrest except he hasnt run into a Mayorga because the middleweight division dosent appear to have much talent. Now youre really going to think I'm a moron but I think Mayorga could give Hopkins hell too and that theres a very real chance that he could beat him. And I know what you think of Mayorga.

Heres what I see Spinch: I see a guy that only fights B or C level fighters and still has trouble becoming comfortable fighting them. Even with that French guy you were talking about it took him awhile to get comfortable fighting him. But once he does he dominates the guy. I mean, we see alot of rounds especially early in his fights where Hopkins does practically nothing the whole round. Thats why alot of people think he is boring to watch. What Im saying is this, once he fights
a great boxer he will have an extremely difficult time getting to that point where he gets comfortable and asserts himself over his opponent. It will be because he will be too busy getting outboxed and wont be allowed to get to that point where he gets in his comfort zone against the guy. And what we will see is that Hopkins will lose a decision. He probably will never get knocked out but he will easily lose a decision.

In regards to Sturm I disagree with you about him.

"what i saw was a decent, prototypical german boxer....a kid that`s physically strong but with little power....basically a one dimensional, one handed fighter...."

Now I'll admit, Saturday nights are my drinking nights and I love knocking down some suds while I'm watching these things. So when we get into a few rounds of the main event I'm probably over a .08. So I usually will watch these things again and make sure I didnt miss anything. But I disagree with what you said about this kid and dont think that youre giving him nearly enough credit.

One dimensional and one handed? I thought I saw an awesome lightening quick jab and also a great left hook and a pretty decent uppercut (which I feel is the most unused punch in boxing). I also saw what I think makes a truly great fighter in this kid, extreme mental toughness and durability. Also a kid that is in awesome conditioning which is a huge factor.
Oscar came out like a mad man and did unreal body work on the kid. There are not alot of fighters that wouldnt of been broken down by all that. I'm very impressed with Felix Sturm and am very eager to see him fight again.

I'm also embarassed and disgraced to be an American after watching how these judges fuked him. He came over here with a perfect record only hoping that he would get a fair shake. Instead his perfect record will be forever tarnished because some corrupt pieces of sh!t were bought off and robbed him. This piece of sh!t Patricia Jarman who had Vargas beating Oscar before being KO'd is an incompenent whore who has no business judging anything. We always complain when American fighters go over to Germany and say that their corrupt judges would never give an American a fair decision.
Well I saw them give Vivian Harris a more than fair decision against Oktay Urkal. We are the worst corrupt county there is when it comes to robbing fighters. Its disgraceful. Just ask Leonrad Dorin and a handful of other guys.

"markus beyer just lost last night....another german middle..one with a better rep than sturm". Sorry Spinch, his rep has been shattered ever since the Danny Green fight.

I agree with you about Oscar seemingly forgetting how to slip punches and yeah, it might be the weight thats making him lazy. But he fought a damn good offensive fight in my opinion. He just ran into the wrong guy.

Please Spinch, listen to me. God has put me on this board to save you from making a big mistake on Hopkins down the road. Use caution when betting him and dont get too carried away with the Oscar fight.

THERE IS NOTHING CRAZY ABOUT A 30 MILLION DOLLAR PAYDAY. This will be De La Hoya's last super fight. Afterwards he'll fight one more easy match in his home town or something like that then retire.

oscar`s got money.....plenty of it.....it wouldn`t be to wonderful for his legacy to bascically lose the last 3 fights of his career....and that`s what`s probably gonna happen if he steps in against bernard in september....

i say the odds of an oscar postponement or snafu will be about 2-1......
